With an 11½ month old son (wow where did the time go?) and a husband, 2 dogs and 3 cats, my life can get swept aside as other priorities come up. I am usually good at getting active and staying generally healthy, but sometimes i get sidetracked. Therefore, I may start to use this blog as not only a place to talk about Jameson and family, but also how I’m doing on exercise and eating.
Today’s Health Status:
I would love to post how today I have been super active and healthy, however, I cannot write that now. I have been healthy – I think I’ve eaten pretty well, but I have not been able to go for a walk or run, or lift or go on the elliptical. I am battling a nasty sinus infection that has been going on for over 2 weeks now! It is awful. I just started some antibiotics last thursday, so I was hoping that I’d get better soon, but things dont seem to be getting better. Yesterday was the worst yet. I called the doc today so maybe I’ll get a different antibiotic. I just want to be better!!
I have been eating pretty good though. Kevin and I have been on a kick of drinking green monsters (green smoothies) every morning for the last 5 days. So far they have been awesome! I did notice that after I drank it yesterday, I had more energy. A great boost of vitamins and nutrients at one shot, all healthy fruits and veggies – and surprisingly tastes great!! Our basic green monster contains:
1 cup greens (kale or spinach)
½ banana
¼ apple
½ cup pineapple
1 cup almond milk
¼ cup greek yogurt
1 Tbsp ground flax seeds
½ cup ice
For breakfast I had oatmeal with fresh blueberries and coffee, for lunch I had a green monster and turkey & cheese on organic multigrain bread. I’ve been trying to watch how much carbs I eat. That’s one thing I crave though when I’m sick!! Carbs! So today I just let myself go. Maybe tomorrow I’ll do better
and I still have the rest of today.
Jameson:
On the Jameson front, things are great! I really missed him yesterday since I felt awful, slept in, and missed seeing him before daycare. He is such a sweetheart! Lately he is becoming super affectionate. We got him a large stuffed Mickey Mouse at Disney World when we were there and he will walk up to it and hug it. It’s very cute. He also loves to hug his cousin Zach. Zach on the other hand does not like it…..
This blog started as a place to share my experiences with my son, and has now become more of a place to discuss just the daily life of a working mother! I love to run, create "things", drink wine, spend time with my son, and just be around my friends and family.
1 Response to attack of the monsters!
