so we just went to the doctor for Jameson’s 9 month check-up. All was good. He weighs 21 lbs 4 oz. And he checks out all healthy. While we were there the doc asked me about what Jameson is eating and he actually gave me the green light to begin giving Jameson some solid foods (you know, not all pureed). He said that even though he only has the 2 teeth part-way through on the bottom, he can have softer small pieces of food and gum them.
He warned me that although he is ready to begin with some solid foods that he WILL gag. Great.
But that that’s just part of his learning how to feed himself and eat.
So last night we gave Jameson some little pieces of soft pear. He LOVED IT!! We also tried some little pieces of pasta and although it did not go quite as good, we’ll keep trying.
My other latest food-related hurdle is getting Jameson to take the sippy cup. I dont want him to be super attached to the bottle, which I fear he already is, but I am not sure the best way to transition to the sippy cup. I have read that you should not only give juice and water in a sippy cup. Putting milk in the sippy cup makes the little ones learn that milk does not only come out of a bottle. But Jameson just does not care. He wants his bottle and doesnt care that there’s milk in the sippy. I keep offering though. Sometimes he’ll take the sippy cup with apple juice in it – but that’s just sometimes.
This blog started as a place to share my experiences with my son, and has now become more of a place to discuss just the daily life of a working mother! I love to run, create "things", drink wine, spend time with my son, and just be around my friends and family.
